The Holiness Church - An Introduction

The Holiness churches were founded in Pilot Point, Texas, in 1908, by the merger of two small regional Holiness Associations. Often referred to as the Nazarenes, they are spread out across North America and several foreign countries.

The commonality of all Holiness denominations is the strong emphasis on sanctification, which holds that the Holy Spirit can purify the hearts and motives of truly consecrated Christians, that they are freed from their natural human tendency to sin and are rendered capable of perfect holiness in this earthly life. Nazarenes are typically quite austere and place a great deal of emphasis on evangelism.
