The Jehovah's Witnesses - An Introduction

The Jehovah's Witnesses church is characterized by its zeal for evangelism and personal house-calls. Convert-winning is so important because of their conviction that the end of human history is imminent. It is expected to come at any time and feel it's their duty to convert as many people as they can because the only survivors of the Battle of Armageddon (the battle foretold in the Bible, in which the forces of God fight the forces of Satan) will be the members of Jehovah's Witnesses, who will live eternal and blissful lives, right here on earth, forever.

Also known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the Jehovah's Witnesses was founded in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, in 1879 by Charles Taze Russell. Today this church is one of the fastest growing religious bodies in the United States, and is spreading throughout Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
